    To improve Pune traffic conditions

    1. Buy 1000 buses for Pune city, mix of AC and Non AC Non polluting new buses so that at any stop one does not have to wait for more than 5 mins to get a bus. So that people are discouraged to use personal vehicles.

    2. Implement smart license (which is already done) and smart license plate to charge road tax based on road usage in city limits. Charge will increase hyperbolically as per usage. Trace non payers with GPS and permanently confiscate/destroy vehicles. (This is already implemented in Singapore)

    3. Get Young and energetic traffic squadrons at ALL junctions for immediate arrest of all traffic offenders and put on traffic rules rehabilitation and learning plan. Second time offenders would be subjected to rigorous imprisonment. Use video camera recording a proof in the court to avoid anarchy.

Money spent implementing this would much lower than expensive proposals like speed trains , ring road and sky buses. The government which succeeds in implementing this would win elections next time sureshot.

Then think about ring roads, high speed trains and metros.

And who do you think is interested in all these things? Politicians? PMC? PMT? Corporators? who?

Traffic rules should be made more strict to he extent of banning or cancelling the liescence.

Road accidents should be considered as equal crime of normal crimes and not as road accident.

Veichle pasing per year and recovery of fines should be connected to veichle passing.

everybody tals about traffic rules. rules are there only thing is we all so called EDUCATED people ignore to follow these rules.

why don't we first start following them and then later think of whether system is wrong or we.

    think on this

Seeing the state of affairs, the only realistic, though, unfortunately pessimistic, comment I can make about Pune's situation is,it is "BEYOND REDEMPTION".
2]Even God cannot help us,let alone, the politicians & the bureaucrats. The police is terribly weak or mostly absent, the PMC is incompetent & corrupt, the original docile local people good, but helpless, the outsiders thronging here for education/jobs, non caring, indisciplined & aggressive & the whole overflowing stinking cauldron is sickening!
SPTM[save Pune Traffic Management]is trying to make some improvements, but the effort is a drop in the ocean.
3]The only viable, though cruel solution will be to raize the city to the ground & rebuild from scratch, but even here, our greedy & corrupt politicians,PMC,builders will be around to grab more than their legitimate pound of flesh.
4]I have been crying hoarse to check our population, stop influx into cities/towns,decentralise & build new townships far away from present in stead of expanding boundaries of say Pune upto Lonavala, but who listens & who cares?
5]I have retired & do not get affected by the traffic to that extent, but my heart & sympathies go out to the totally hapless lakhs of two wheeler drivers & pillion riders including ladies & kids, who have to commute day in & day out in this terribly polluted, crowded, sickening hell of a city.
6]I am definitely not a cynic & being born here, used to harbour some pride & hope, but have come to the definite conclusion that quality of life here or for that matter,in India will deteriorate even further despite the share market, malls & multiplexes as there is complete lack of political will, complete lack of ruthlessness by the police & complete lack of honesty & integrity in the PMC/PMT.
7]The builders have become greedy beyond wildest imagination & there is no explanation whatsoever for escalation of property prices in say Prabhat road area from say Rs.2500/per sq.foot to Rs.6500/7000/ being quoted within 3-4 years.
8]All the big talk by guardian minister is all political hogwash & he is no better than the city's MP, who had brought the situation to this pathetic pass & city on the brink of disaster! All these guys are fairly old themselves & in the quest for power & money, have no concern for the next generations.Even God cannot help us no matter what sakal tries to do or few concerned & greatly worried citizens keep suggesting.Doomsday is here!
9]I admire the student in the photo trying to knock some sense into our road heroes, but if he is wise & clever,he should find a way to go abroad ASAP for his own good rather than risk being maimed/run over!

    Subhash sir,
It is only to the puneiites to blame for your point number 7. The so called middle class, so called higly cultured but arrogant punekars or puneris. They are the ones who were happy that the prices of the properties (mostly inherited from their old parents) were going up. Now they must pay for their sins.

    Shri.Neo,
With due respect for yr generally apt & well thought out comments on other subjects, here I think you are totally off the mark & have no right to unnecessarily call Punekars arrogant.Making such baseless statements/judgements is totally uncalled for.
I believe in putting myself in other's shoes before writing.
Many persons from middle class in Pune live in ancestral houses/flats & are simple God fearing folks barely making both ends meet.
Few may sell inherited homes/flats & reap benefits, but do not be so cruel/naive to taint them all as greedy. What their flat is worth is of no consequence/importance to them as they have nowhere else to go!What sin have they committed? Are they responsible for prices quoted by builders?
And when it comes to next generation to buy flats, despite easily available loans, most still cannot afford them or else take risk to pay back massive EMIs all their lives!
You are not calling a spade a spade here & I regretably have to record objection to your sweeping remark with hope that you will reconsider & retract same!!

    Sir,

I am sorry if i am harsh on cityiites. But let me explain to you by example what i mean.
    1) Somebody where we (as family) enquired about place for rent told us that they would like to rent it out to outstation students as they pay more rent (3000x4=12000) compared to a family who normally does not pay more than Rs. 6000. It does not matter to them what the society says or how the students/bachelors behave.
    2) Somebody even told us that they do not like their kitchen wall being blackened by families who normally cook. Bachelors normally do not cook and hence the kitchens are clean (they don't worry about toilets).
    3) One esteemed landlady (who stays in Mumbai: name Bhagwat) told my friend (who was paying Rs.4000 rent then and had stayed there for 4 years) to increase the rent to 7500 or vacate the house. Reason: She was offered that much for the flat.
There are innumberable examples (and i don't even count the descendents of Mavalas - Bhoite, Kaspate, Shelar etc etc who have sold their lands to builders for money and are now rash driving Indicas) like this. Face it. It was something the people brought on themselves. Don't you know who are the people selling their bunglows on Prabhat road to builders for new construction? Open any newspaper and you would find an ad for a bunglow in kothrud for sale for a crore and half. Do you think they are in need of money? What need justifies a price tag of Crore rupees? What need justifies the arrogance of telling others that they booked a flat of Rs.70 lacs on Tilak road? Rs. 70 Lacs? I am not sure if the IT boom would continue or not, but if it does not, then don't expect any sympathy from me for suiciders!

    Shri.Neo,
    Point taken!

Pratyekane jar niyam palala tar kashachich garaj nahiye! .... pan kahi lok "Amhi lai bhari" ya category madhe asatat. Tyana bhram asato ki te vegale ahet. And hence they dont follow the rules.
This requires self realization. If someone follows the rule, why other person laughs at him/her. This needs to be stopped. Changing attitude is the most importnat key for this.We need gromming in such a way that will change attitude of people.

Pan tari kahi "kodge" asatatach .... tyana kahich karu shakat nahi.
Mi pardeshat khup firalo tasach tyanchya systems pahilya ....one thing what I observed is people think about others atleast while driving...which we dont. They are not careless where we are.
In US and Singapore , Cars stops 15 feet away if some one is on zebra crossing ...and nobody has to tell that Cars needs to stop.
So as per me ... each individual should realize what wrong he/she is doing.
