Why PMT Controller Booth & Police Chowky at Pune Raulway Station ?
For watching traffic or for resolving this?
PMT controller booth is available near police chowky pune stn. same road is found always crowded because of unauthorise parking of Auto Rikshaw. Openly auto Rikshaw drivers calling for the peoples but controller has not taking any action against them nor informing the traffic police. Police chowky pune stn. is also nearby but police has also not fined them as the PMT & Police Officers geting huge amount as a bribe from them.

I am regular traveler from Kothrud to Kharadi. Each time I visit Karishma Chowk I find people rushing to pass the RED signal. Sometimes its green signal but traffic is not moving, people opt to pass the signal even though they know they can not pass it in time. When the same single turns RED they find themselves in the middle of the road and they can not do much than just wait to get vehicals ahead to pass through. In this time, the other signal turns GREEN which adds to caous. I think this is mostly the cause of traffic jamming. Simple rule is even though signal is green do not pass the signal line if traffic ahead is blocked.

No idea whats traffic police role is in avoiding this.

Well beshistapana is admitted. But to tell the truth given the IMPORTANCE of Karve road and traffic, there is no reason to Not have an "Over bridge" extending right from Deccan till ahead of Dahanukar chowk and similar line along Paud road till ahead of bhusari chowk...it will smoothen the traffic and then no need to bother about signals...
Pune corp tax collection(already ~8% of total national direct tax) is swelling every year after year, so there shouldn't be complaints that we dont have funds but for the fact that they are probably blind or insanely unwilling to even consider these "long term fixes". Also other blatant advantages of such flyovers is obviously better mileage for vehicles per liter, time saved, lesser pollution and hence better health...inshort with that it will be like "ek ghaav don(>2) tukde"

    पुण्याचे लोक स्वता:ला एवढे शिस्ता प्रिया म्हणवून घेतात तर karveraod जिथे अस्सल पुणेकर रहातात, ट्राफ्फिक चा प्रॉब्लेम का?

The problem is not only for karishma chowk, it is everywhere in Pune.
In Day time police didnt catch the Auto, PMT and Scorpios with some particular numbers.
After 8:00PM all police call up the day.Police should manage the traffic at night also.

This traffic signal is a typical example of the running a whole country. Very devastating ....
    Nobody cares except himself....
and moreover, everybody wants to go ahead od others..
Thats a reality which I can imagin from Auckland, New Zealand being a ex puneite.

The traffic chaosis the rule of the day. Who cares and who else is bothered with the rules and laws. Things will not improve unless each one of us stands up to and for discipline

hello anonymous 24th, its easy to curse the city or simply give examples of other advanced nations whose types of problems are entirely different for obvious reasons...but we could certainly consider the rules being applied in similarly crowded cities of london, NY, paris and all...
MY point is why don't you suggest way out of it...I would say this blog should be considered as a medium to share thy thoughts or ideas if any to IMPROVE the conditions...
Heres I thought of few more elements:
    1. Increasing police force so as to have more to keep check on..Also increase required since light outs can disable signals when most needed only to add more.....
    2. Cameras placed at some critical junctions and additional police force if employed should watch...
See once people are aware that SOMEBODY's watching THEM doing incorrect things, then it will automatically induce tention to follow the rules....
Its sort of similar effect that media has on politicians or having prefects in the school watching students breaking the rules...I don't think if things are left by itself to improve, any change is possible..AND Definitely NOT under HORRIFIC CONDITIONS in which people have to drive...

PS: Having said so, another issue is still gonna remain and that is available state finance, which was unable to pay even school teachers pensions and pagars....maybe if state govts are allowed to RETAIN say ~25% of total tax collected then it could alleviate financial issues...I mean basically the issue is not as much of tax collection, esp for Maharashtra, as much funds getting available from center...And in a way it will AWAKEN our DEARLY CENTER TO PAY ATTENTION in collecting REQUIRED TAXES FROM "ALL" the states and IMPORTANTLY NOT TO put itself in position as to WRITE OFF thousands of crs...

I mean again I am not aware if such tax retention rule is in place....

We have so many Auto Rikshwa Organisations. Who uses therir influnces for the well being of auto rikshwa wall's. Why don't anybody from the civic body makes an appeal to these org's and ask them to appeal to the fellow Rikshwalla's to follow the traffic rues to avoid the traffic jams. I think these guys create most of the traffice jams.
We all should try to become diciplined. My personal experience is very bad. e.g If u r standing for red signal people start blowing the horns without looking at the signal status. People do not follow the stop Line. Most of the two and three wheelers stops after crossing the lines. creating disturbing the traffice from other side
A sincere appeal to the Traffic Police. Instead of checking drive, ask the police to get hold of the people who are not following the common traffic rules. and catch hold of people who do not hv the proper documents.
