This decision is bullXXXX. Maharashtra Govt is becoming crazy now a days. This will be invitation for extra marital affairs where you are legally allowed to stay with another woman. While taking this decision, State Govt probably forgot that they are in india not in Europe. They did not think about our culture, this will open the ways for woman to take undue advantage of this legal decision.

This is very bad decision, this is not our "Sanatam Dharma" says or accept. All these things are coming from West countries, and they don't have any Sanskriti. They are simple behind Sense gratification, lots of sex, money(material). And we are best copiers unfortunately.
I request all Indians, please be awake, because our politicians are of no use.
Tomorrow they will also agree with same sex marriage etc.
Please read Bhagavad and live life accordingly. Maharashtra had great saints like Sant Tukaram and Dyaneshwar, lot to learn from them.

What do the central agricultural minister, home minister or power minister have to say about this?
Obviously keep silent as all such decisions too are with approval of their New Delhi videshi "Jagadamba" at whose feet they fall daily to safeguard their chairs!

This will only increase the lawsuits of alimony, child support. What about the Marriage institution? We were brought up believing in Marriage, Family. Live In relationship oppose all of this. It is like going back to stone age where there was only one relation that of man and woman, nothing else.

The financial problems which US is facing right now, due to child support and children of unwedded parents, puts lot of stress on the country's financial situation. It can soon happen to India as well.

India and Maharashtra government, in particular needs to wake up. We need to be ahead of the game but certainly not in this category.

Sanskruti.None of the existing religion give this type of teach.
All other religion can not reach upto this level of purity so they want to clinch down the social facts like this one in which to live togather without any relationship is not allowed in Hindu Sanskruti which is steel a strong backbone of our family and thats why from all over the world we are stil stable and sustainable

I think it's a great decision. Let's be honest about it and not be hypocrite about our sanskriti and usual stuff. How many men currently have extra marital affairs? How many men want to have same? How many men lust for other women after marriage. Let's not talk about religion and our sanskriti. If we really go there, then let's go to the basics where Kamasutra was born and nurtured. India is one of the originators of sex bible but now with these wrong notions of sanskriti and all we are becoming no. 1 hypocrite. What this law will do is it will give protection to women who are unnecessarily get used by married men (or are willingly in a relationship with other single or married men). I do not think our so called sanskriti and dharma will get affected in any way by this. Folks, let's get real. This is not influence of western. Since there are tons and tons of Indians in live in relationship, we need to have the same protection as married people. On the same lines I really hope India will start treating it's law abiding gay/lesbian individuals as First Class citizens. Currently they are treated by our law as 2nd class citizens (again the same hypocicy and hue and cry of dharma and sanskriti).

This is good decision on the part of government. This will make people more responsible. It is much better to live in relationship than living forcefully in unwanted marriage relationship forced by the society.
This will give more rights to the women which have been denied to them over the centuries.

In foreign countries, people have everything except Family culture like India. They respect our culture, and now we are copying and following there, its very das :-(

Change in new world is accepted, but not this kind.

Politicians cannot do anything now, only Goverment Servent's can change the situation now. If they become strict, they can keep everything on track.

Middle man want some change but not starting from himself, like "Shivaji should born again, but not in my home"

At such decisions BJP , Shivsena and MNS are always good to proper decision.

I think it is really great and equally surprising news by government. This gives liberation to woman before marriage to expierince how her future husband goingto be and vice versa. It's so comman in western world and i really do see lots and lots of benefits. Just see around you number of divorces are taking place. Is this Indian sanskrii? no . I think this law will give both man and woman freedom to decide whether they would like to spend rest of their life together without obligations. Just imagine you can walk out any time in this kind of relationship. Isn' that awesome.

Well i certainly do not agree with this decision. We have enough problems to deal with like lack of education, poverty and population. By allowing a live in relationship we will just pass a legal decision . I just want to ask question to those who support this decision . If you are a parent or a relative , would you accept a bahu who was in a legal live in relationship with a guy in her past and it didnt work out for some reason ? I am not saying people are not living in right now. They are . But formalising this is not going to change what people still believe. Very few people are matured enough to accept a girl's past as a mistake or just a past and move on and look at her as an individual .

  41. Anonymous said...

All over the world such relationships are being widely accepted then why not in India and that too in 21st Century.

Gay and Lesbian Couples are also accepted in modern society in most of the countris.

In India we are acting as if we are in 16th century then why parents do not object or tries to prevent modern boys and girls using drugs, having sex before marriages and having rev parties.

Why married or even unmarried men look at other ladies even if they are married.

If all this is allowed then why not living relationship?

bringing it within the ambit of law certainly is a landmark decision.. As a minimum, it provides a relief to the women and hence indirectly serves as disincentive for a man to get into relation and discontinue it at will

extending the analogy of 'way back somebody in US had suggested - if you want to have a control on drugs menace - first legally accept them, then it can establish a control on the same'...

in case of evidence of relationships, surely courts have enough wisdom to analyse evidence and establish the same..

From another angle, it is a classic example of hypocracy - as one of the posts mentioned 'what would be the reaction of the people who approved this legislation when their kuldeepaks and deepikas flash on page 3 with similar news or lawsuits..' I would be surprised if any of these people would accept it at their home..

No legal protection/rights should be given to those who enter in live-in relationship. If anybody of them feels of getting used, he/she can easily break the relationship as they have not entered in the wedlock and thus have no legal binding. Women should not be protected as they enter in this kind of relationship out of their own choice.

    Good One.
Please understand what do you mean by Marriage relationship, what is Live in relationship. Many people think that just get a girl without marry her and you can spend your "quality time" with her is the live in relationship. It is something different than that. This is the relation with out having any society bonding, but it is an emotional bond, respect and love.
One small example will justify you if you really want to understand live in.
One couple may be boyfriend and girlfriend or engaged couple had very good conversations, co-ordination, sweet memories before marriage, but suddenly after marriage they are facing difficulties in understanding each other. And their most of the time goes to the fights only. It may be because of the added responsibilities of the family, society and possessiveness. It doesn’t means that Live in relation does not have any responsibilities. There is lots of care, respect for your own space, value for each other’s identity, support and mutual understanding.
I don’t want to justify here that it is good or bad. The law here is to support and protect the people who have Live in Relations. These people faces problem great problems while interacting with society.
Personally I had live in relationship so I know what is ‘in’ and what the misunderstandings are.
    I Hartley welcome this law

Now a days there are lot of tensions and both husband and wife would be able to respect each other in this relationship and once they are confident that they can go along with each other they can get married. I think this would considerably reduce the divorce rate.

Some stupid persons are patting themselves on their own backs by hailing this silly decision.

In today's world, few odd youngsters may be giving a try to live-in-relationship so as not to repent after wedlock[which is also common now-a-days as seen from mounting divorce cases!],but trying to equate unfettered freedom with the sanctity of the institution of marriage & lauding the M'tra govt's stupid decision is tantamount to discarding the traditions & culture!
If there are far more tensions between husband & wife these days as mentioned by someone,it is because of too much independence, financial freedom of both & nuclear families & for that they alone are responsible for adopting the ultra modern lifestyles & with due respect to the some young ladies, their unwillingness to do domestic chores & their husband's macho, but obsolete attitude!

Few just writing comments in favour & justifying the govt decision smacks of utter apathy & disregard for wedded life. They may get away with it for a while, but they should know that "they can fool some people some time, but not all the people all the time!

And in any case, the govt has no right to take such decisions, when there are 101 other far more pressing problems that need to be addressed first!

Immature guys, wake up & just learn to think before expressing bravado!

Indian CEO Prannoy Roy is Co-brother of Prakash karat, General Secretary of Communist Party of India.

His wife and Brinda Karat are sisters.

India Today : Which used to be the only national weekly who supported BJP is now bought by NDTV. Since then the tome has changed drastically and turned into Hindu bashing.

CNN IBN: This is 100% funded by Southern Bapist Church with its branches in all over the world with HQ is US. The Church annually allocates $800 Millions for Promotion of its channel. Its Indian head is Rajdeep Sardesai and his wife Sagarika Ghosh.

No wonder such laws are made in India. Media is western controlled and they propogate their BS thoughts on marathi and indian traditions.

    To the Moderator,

Please remove unwarranted and unrelated comments like above. Keep the ones related with topic, so that people will be aware of the SUBJECT that they should write about.

I think that the state government is hurrying on this topic and they should have discussed this more in Public forums. I heard a news that Ms. Vimal Mundada is also against this decision.

    The moderator,
    Pl.DO NOT REMOVE SA'S comment
[56th] as it gives info about ownership of Indian newspapers & their affiliation to political parties.

This info is vital for the public to know as the newspapers will never admit/furnish publically such info.

We are a bloody sick nation being bought by these selfish politicians/parties & the saddest part is the majority are being purchased.

Why the hell is this Italian connection in newspapers too???
    Disgrace indeed!

My name is Savita and right now i am staying in France and i support this wise decision fully.I think every person has right to live how he wants whether under a legal name "marriage" or in "live-in".And Indians lets stop being hypocrite, everything is ok in India if we do it hidden from the society. There are huge number of ppl who are living together. And this law will definitely act as a legal weapon for the security of weomen, especially. Its high time that India should look at the relationships with its eyes wide open and face the reality. In fact Govt should also accept the gays and lesbian relationships also, which is an integral part of our society also. And its much better to live-in with the person of your choice than getting sexually harrassed every night by the dominating men who care damn about even existence of their wives who live forcefully with their husbands.I think its a very welcoming decision of Maharastra govt and it should apply in whole India as well. This is one bold step of Mr Deshmukh towards the advaced India and i salute him for the same.

Whats difference between Randigiri and live in relation ship?
I think next step of government is legalize the prostitution , publish rate card for tourism. They never think about the problem the child born from this relation going to face or what happen to existing married life.
These ministers never responsible toward public. Now onward minister's or high profile person thinks 'Bhai kal kahi pay alag ladki ya ladkay kay sath ek room may dekhay gaye to problem nahi ab to sub kuch legalise kar diya hay' that my right or that's important to prevent AIDS.

WHY DON'T NEWSPAPER LIKE SAKAL COME FORWARD TO FIGHT AGAINST THESE KIND OF DECISION RATHER THAN WASTING THERE EFFORT ON CHINTU CONTEST.
HOPE SAKAL BRING REAL SAKAL IN COMMAN MAN LIFE.

    GOD SAVE COMMON PEOPLE ...

Savita - Excellent post by Savita from France.

Your post shows the addiction, dirtiness, ignorance of the values of life in France. This is the difference between mislead converts and non-converts. A person definetly not from Maharashtra. This assures me that France, the most wasted people on earth, who teach dirtiest things to their kids.
