Yes very true. But from my point of view the biggest problem with the educational field not only in the state, but also all over the country is the fact that the current faculty becomes faculty due to no other better job opportunities. They do not turn towards teaching out of interest. There are reasons for that too.
1] Low salaries and restricted career growth.
2] Reservations in every aspect including recruitment as well as promotions.
3] The changing mindsets of the parents and students, with the increasing emphasis on the mark system rather than the actual quality of knowledge imparted to the pupil.Because of this there is no flexibility on the part of the teacher for approaching a specific subject. All he/she has to do is prepare students for examinations and patterns!!

I agree with you. It's true that the education in India has become an immature profession and the sufferes are the students and the teachers. These non-sense politicians and the education mafias do not understand that they are making a long term loss to our nation by not showing seriouness in education. How much salary these people give in name of "Contract"? Rs.1000 per month. I know as per government rules it should be 3000 p.m. But how many institutes give it? Also in many cases these people demand for bribe in lacs(current rate is 3-5 lacs minimum for new teacher posts in Primary Schools). Now can our ministers explain us that how can a person who is getting Rs.1000pm salary can survive and teach with dedication? I am ready to pay these politicicans this money. Can they show a dedication in their profession with this much salaries?

I am not just worried about the salaries. I will explain the other problems as well. And instead of just cribbing lets have some solution on this.

Until then I expect you people to comment on this and make sure that we as a society make this topic an issue and get some problems resolved.

I will post my next comments soon...

    Thanks,
    Sudhir

I concur with Mr. Deshmukh and all others too.

Mr. Deshmukh sould seat back and think of better solution.

It's a high time to design a better pay structure and motivate the good students/new graduates to become future better teachers.

How often you see persons like engineers and doctors having very good academic and professional track records becoming the VCs and principals....my observation is very low because mostly they all are there due to the politics and what we can expect from these people... certainly not the education and knowledge but more coruption to pay those dues back which they have spent to get into the chair....GOD BLESS INDIA...

What hounerable ministers has stated it is crystal truth. So many misfotunes are seen happened in education field All teaching staff and are not satisfied without giving the progressive services, due to poor quality of school education, the pvt.classes taking places at heigh value.most teachers are seen conducting pvt.classes, without caring the rules nad regulations, going furgot to their own responsibylities.
Thanks to hounerable ministers of both, expressed the parents/student voice.
Thanks Sakal papers.anouncing the expression of hounerable ministers.

Yes I do agree with Samer Huprikar But we should take another aspect into mind that the teachers themselves are not taking much interest in teaching. Their appearance also matters very much.

I would like to say that, if you want to do anything with dedication, you must love it. I saw many people(teachers) or from other fields who love their work, but it is our resopnsibility to provide them such an environment in which they can concentrate on their work and they should not have any other worries. Here you dont have food to eat, no house to live(e.g. in Pune :) ), you do not have flexibility to implement your ideas, you have tasks like repetitive elections, repetitive census, tasks like family planning.....how can you expect them to concentrate on teaching....

IMHO, people in our society are more responsible to this degraded value systems than anybody else. Politicians are always made a target of blame and then we all feel that we have done our job. One of the comment above mentions that teachers don't have enough incentives to do their job. If everyone is waiting for some external motivations and not trying to create a inner drive, there is not much hope for a better society. We will, at most, trigger such "interesting" discussions, that too only during our lunch hours.

I totally agree with coments by Sameer and Sudhir. The govt funding for primary schools is simply pathetic. I went to a nearby village about 30kms from pune below that mahindras fancy school and saw that they barely had walls for a school limited to 4th std. The localite in there told me that students rarely attend it since the motivation for going to that pathetic place just lacks. I was kind of embarassed to tell the truth that so called "PROGRESSIVE STATE" cannot afford a decent bldg.
So the poing is mainly to motivate both students and teachers to do much better. How is that gonna be possible? Well like has been mentioned in others comments by decent salary scales so as to retain teachers, good school facilities to motivate students. Most importantly good school premise also creates a "PSYCHOLOGICAL" binding to do better. Similar to temptations to spit on a marble is mostly very low yeah?
In addition almost all the schools should have science exhibitions.
Then there also should be annual report on the quality of schools feeded to local centers, like pune should have one for pune district and so on.
Believe if that was scenario just 30kms from pune, then its simply gonna be worst in interiors. Currently there are some mobile computer education systems which I saw the film of. But thats really like a drop of water in dry land. We need permanantly stationed computers in all the schools, students should be given CAD training much before. The basic chemistry, biology and physics experiments should be mandatory in all the schools.
Our CM's statement is more like dhul jhatakane rather than actually going to the roots.

My question is, how were the teachers of today trained? They were trained by the same system. Root of the issue is in the system. Also we do not really focus on teachers as a force that can change fate of the nation. They have become servants of the state. Apart from checking papers, they are held up for all sundry works of the state government. Instead, they should be encouraged to take up projects for the community & students. Their performance appraisals should be linked to such activities apart from the results of their students. Also the teaching system should be completely based on merit. Will you go to a doctor based on how much sufferings he & his ancestors have gone through or what is his merit today? Why not should that be true about teachers?
