Issue taken into consideration is very good. Its everyones responsibility to keep the city clean.
But I want point out one thing in the photo that the trash box is fully filled. hence, Person has to throw his trash has to throw his trash outside the box. Therefore its first PMC's responsibility to empty the boxes time to time. It is not good to blame the people first.

    M K -
The effort is greatly appreciated and I agree that this must not die. The picture also shows that the trash is overflowing so the people are not the only issues here, the infrastructure has a big part to play.

People will now be penalised for throwing garbage on the roads which is necessary to get them into the habit of using the dumpster. But It is also necessary to find out why roads are being used instead of the dumpster. Although 'lack of feeling of responsibility' is one reason, the other reasons become clear if you look closely.

If you look closely at the picture shown on this post you will see that DIMENSIONS of the DUMPSTER is the problem. The ideal dimension would be Height - 4 ft, length 10 ft and width 6 feet. If the dumpster shown in the attached picture is to be used then 3 dumpsters of that volume should be used at any particular spot.

    Thanks

The height of 4 ft will enable even children to dump the garbage properly. But if the childs height is a problem then the parents should not give that responsibility to the child. The Volume of the dumpster should take into account the population of that particular area with some positive margin.

Nice movement and definitely signs of greater improvement in the future...but hopefully the collection is also efficient enough to keep its effects going...
I hope it also takes much bigger form like conversion of all the useful waste into fertiliser and recirculation of certain useful elements like glass, etc. The section of society working in that area is not protected under any health insurance or proper payments...so we need formation of an INDUSTRY to CARRY OUT that task much more professionally..I believe every household can shed out Rs.50 at ease per month as payments if such industry is really formed. That will help keeping environment REALLY Clean and will result in PROPER JOBS(not the current unhealthy ones). if we could just do that we move ourselves 10 steps ahead of most so called developed nations which merely DUMP the whole goddamn things..look at the paper consumption and waste of it that exists in all those nations..see we are actually much more environmentally friendly that way...Most of their rivers are pretty poluted as well allthough much of larger particles are effectively cleaned up...but chemicals stays nevertheless...
So we must welcome such movements and again thank sakal for taking initiative towards these important issues..
Another eagerly awaiting topic and much discussed should be along some more environmental topics like recirculation of fertilisers in natural way..Like the one shown in "amchi maati amchi manasa" series wherein they used earthworms to digest the vegetable and other waste and convert into fertiliser...this is one of most important part of organic farming techniques...something we should all be aware and savadhan about hazards of over-irrigation and artificial fertilisers...

I have suggestion : Corporation may plan to keep portable dustbins at selected locations on residential streets, for example from 4.30 to 5.30 am, corporation will place the dustbins at selected locations around the city residential streets and from 8 to 9 am they will collect all dustbins. Citizens responsibility is to keep their garbage in the dustbins during this period. Nobody is allowed to throw (!) garbage during rest of the day. Whereas on commertial streets, corporation may keep heavy metal dustbins ( so that it won't be stolen and can be coupled with garbage carrier )at locations nearby common toilets and vehicle parking area. They may collect the garbage daily twice at 3 pm and 11 pm so that the dustbins won't be overflooded ! Every cizens resposibility is to keep ( not to throw !) the garbage in the dustbin. This will involve recruitment of manpower and dustbins, garbage carriers and drivers but at the cost of clean city !! This is my humble request to Sakal publisher to aware corporation for such kind of suggetions ( I mean not only mine but few other's which has some action plan ) and corporation to please look into.

good drive. I really hope to be it a total success. But i will like to mention that , good learned / earned people from middle class & high class families are the one who mostly dont follow the rules for throwing trash. They will roam in 5 lacs car, but will throw away trash on road. Mentality of each Punekar needs to be changed. I hope this movement will bring +ve change

I haven't seen a single person yet being penalised for throwing garbage on the streets. Rather when suggested to such 'Citizens' for not doing so, arrogant comments were passed. I do not see any realistic plans/ steps for making Clean Pune-Beautiful Pune. When we talk about changing the mentality of the people, can we really do it? I mean think of yourself as deep as you can, look around, take a walk on the streets in all the city areas and now again think, can we really change the mentality?

The people who want to change are already there but are in minority and this discussion is happening within that minority group. None of the persons writing on this blog site throws garbage on the road. So we are talking about the ocean by sitting inside a floating bottle!!

I guess the only way could be a VERY STRICT LAW AND ORDER BEING OBSERVED BY EVERYONE. Especially the Govt officials when they are in public places and should have right to penalise anybody for a misconduct.
